The Cité is conceived as a journey to discover, learn and share: a setting that brings together gastronomic spaces, shops and experiences in a place where heritage and contemporary architecture coexist naturally. In this context, the walkways are not just for circulation; they are part of the atmosphere.
The ETFE covers support this idea with a light gesture: they protect from the weather without “closing” the space. Their transparency enhances the sense of height and continuity, allowing daylight to enter clearly while preserving the open character of the place. The result is a more comfortable experience for those walking through the dining area or pausing at a shop: a sheltered stroll where light continues to set the rhythm and the space feels open, calm and welcoming.
TECHNICAL BASE
The intervention is resolved through transparent ETFE covers installed over the walkways that connect the dining and retail areas of the complex (Village Gastronomique, shops and associated spaces). This material, single-layer translucent ETFE, allows large surfaces to be covered with reduced weight and high light transmission, maintaining a clean reading of the whole and a discreet visual integration.
From a practical point of view, the cover improves the continuity of use of the space: it protects visitors from rain and adverse weather conditions, maintaining a pleasant route between venues without losing the outdoor feeling. This comfort is immediately perceived: walking, observing, choosing and staying becomes more natural, with homogeneous light and an open atmosphere that accompanies the life of the place.
