Description CEA - GRENOBLE

This project is composed of a building of around 3300 m² built surface area for researchers, entrepreneurs and visitors within its modular spaces.

The top floor façade of this building is composed of i-tensing panels coated with Frontside View 381 membrane in black to contrast with the lower floor which has a natural concrete finish. The geometry of the panels is defined by different elements in each façade, such as the opening of doors, windows and the different terraces.

A decorative wall composed of triangular panels coated with the same membrane has been incorporated into the building interior. These panels of varied sizes have been positioned to create a broken wall effect.

Technical Base

Both the textile façade and the interior wall have been created with Frontside View 381 membrane by Serge Ferrari, composed of polyester coated with PVC.

The façade has been executed with IASO's i-tensing system. These are panels with an aluminium frame upon which the membrane is put under tension. These frames are anchored to the façade by hooks which, in turn, hang from a metal substructure fixed to the main structure of the building. All the fixation elements are hidden behind the panels so that only the textile membrane can be seen. This project has panels installed up to 8.10 m high and approximately 2 m wide, the upper alignment line with cornice, angled at a slope on some of its façades. The aluminium frame is anodised matte black, as are the fixation and screw parts so that they are camouflaged within the system.

The decorative wall has been executed with flat triangular panels upholstered with the membrane, fixed to a steel substructure with 3D geometry to give the wall its final relief. As determined by the interior designer, some triangles have been upholstered to expose the usual outer side of the membrane (shinier) and others show the back side (more matte) to give greater depth and volume to the whole.
