PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The old church was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War. This landmark building restored in various phases now has an ETFE transparent covering. The seamless integration of this element respects its historic character and gains a multifunctional space.
TECHNICAL BASE
Single-layer with 250μm transparent ETFE film.
The transparency of the ETFE sheets makes the new roof visually disappear, allowing the building to remain the focal point.
Two opposing construction systems: the solidity of the existing structure versus the lightness of the new roof.
Respecting the importance of the former, the historical memory of the monument is preserved.
The light metal structure follows the building’s modulation.
Its four modules in width, ranging from 7m to 9.60m, have arches distributed in parallel every 1.60m.
