This project consists of creating a textile roof for the commercial gallery area of the complex. The geometry of this roofing design extends and adapts to the contours of the façades of the adjacent buildings, according to the plans received.
The roof is composed of two parts: the first is made of white PVC and serves as the main cover of the structure.
The second consists of frames upholstered with ETFE film, installed on one side of the structure, acting as fixed panels similar to windows. The roof has a total surface area of 560 m² and the side panels cover 46 m².
The materials selected for the structure include a translucent white fabric for the roof and transparent ETFE film for the upholstered frames. The structure has a rectangular floor plan, composed of 9 openings that form paraboloids. The roof has been manufactured as a single piece, assembled from various patterns (according to the material width), joined together at each of the 8 central frames.
Each of these central frames features a sleeve that allows the roof fabric to be tensioned, ensuring it follows the shape of the structure. In addition to the central cord tensioning, the entire perimeter is also tensioned with elastic cord. Except for the two longitudinal sides, the other two sides are finished with a lighting valance to ensure the roof's watertightness. This also prevents birds from entering and conceals the corded edge.
To prevent water infiltration from the side into the lower level, one of the longitudinal sides has been fitted with transparent ETFE film enclosures. These are custom-made perimeter frames fixed to the supporting metal structure. This solution provides weather protection while maintaining transparency and visibility.
