PLAY AREA MCARTHURGLEN PARIS-GIVERNY SHOPPING CENTRE
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project aims to cover the play area of the McArthurGlen Paris-Giverny shopping centre, providing shade and protection from the elements.
Due to the large surface area to be covered — approximately 866 m² — the roof plays a prominent role within the shopping centre. For this reason, a structure with a complex curved geometry was created to give the space identity, following the aesthetic defined by the architects.
The metal structure is built with curved tubular profiles joined together with bolted connections on site. It is anchored to the pillars of the play area as well as to the terraces adjacent to the zone.
The membrane has been manufactured in a single piece, following a pattern that allows it to adapt to the geometry of the structure while preserving the tent’s aesthetic.
Rainwater is channelled towards the drain outlets located at the pillars of the roof thanks to perimeter gaskets welded to the membrane.
