PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of the outdoor refurbishment project for the common areas of the San Fernando Business Park, the aim is to cover a specific area with a tensile structure using stretched PVC membrane.

The structure will consist of a metal frame supported by 4 pillars and 4 tensioned cables anchored to existing slabs in the business park's framework. The membrane takes the shape of an eight-point hyperbolic paraboloid and is fixed directly to the metal structure and tensioned cables using edge cables and corner plates.

Continuing with the outdoor renovation of the common areas at the San Fernando Business Park, we carried out the installation of a tensile structure.

The chosen fabric is Mehler Valmex FR900 PVC. The shape is determined through precise form-finding calculations and is made up of various panels. It is finished with sleeves of the same material to allow the passage of perimeter cables.

The membrane has 8 ends with corner plates (where the perimeter cables converge). Four of these are attached to the high points of the structure, while the other four are secured to the lower points (structural plates welded on site to the existing anchor points) using 12 mm diameter stainless steel cables with fork terminals, just like the upper ones.

The structure measures 9.65 m x 7.75 m and features variable pillar heights.

Installation is carried out on-site by bolting and welding the pillars to the existing plates. Due to the site’s complexity and weight limitations on the different slabs, a crane truck is required, as no heavy machinery can be used in the execution area.
